Purple Perfection for Polio
18th Feb 2011
In November students prepared nearly 100 pots of purple crocuses to sell in Spring for their chosen charity, eradicating polio from the world. The pots of flowers were sold as part of a special Polio Awareness Day, where students also sold food and held a Wii tournament, to raise funds.
£350 was raised on the day and through our connection with the Rotary Club, these funds will be matched by polio patron, Bill Gates, to make £700. Every £1 raised will provide vaccinations for 5 children, so thanks to the generosity of UAK students and staff we’ve protected 3500 lives.
