Ski Challenge

In September students were treated to a Winter Sports Experience Day here at UAK, courtesy of Olympic coach Pat Sharples and young talent Tyler Harding.
Tyler who at 14 years of age is already creating a storm in the world of Free Ski, performed the spins, twists and back flips that have won him numerous competitions. Which, with an auditorium packed full is no easy feat, but he didn’t fail to impress and performed three exceptional routines. Also on hand was Olympic coach Pat Sharples with a wealth of information, hints and tips that have ensured UAK students are fully in the know should they fancy a skiing lesson. Students tried on the latest gear, not even in the shops yet, and learned about the hard work behind the great life style.
Armed with all this knowledge students then had opportunity to take part in a quiz to win Salomon goodie bags. The ski challenge activities continued in the class room for two weeks and the overall winners were: Rishee Anand, Bilal Hayat, Tom Hayton, Hareem Hussain, Haseeb Ilyas and Danyal Javed.
Our winners were treated to a Ski Experience Day with Pat Sharples at Chill Factore in Manchester, where they received a special lesson and took their firsts steps on skis, or not, oopps, bunp!! The Alpine theme even extended into lunch with everyone trying Fondue, a Swiss speciality, yummy!
