Mathematics is at the heart of everyday life and work. To become confident and mature Adults, young people need to be numerate, and have the ability to analyse and interpret data. They also need to understand and negotiate financial services.
Our vision is to empower our young people to develop their mathematical knowledge and skills beyond school with confidence and enthusiasm.
To do this, we work with local businesses and universities to develop the Academy into a centre of excellence for mathematics. We also expect to see an increasing number of students pursue careers or university courses that involve mathematics.
Continued success comes about through high-quality teaching. Our teachers will constantly engage students through innovative learning activities and extensive use of Information and Communications Tevhnology (ICT).
Young people are often at the forefront of experimenting with new devices as they become available. They have no fear of digital photography, web cams and video or audio downloads. We harness our student's enthusiasm and take the use of ICT in learning as far as it is possible to go.
Students will take part in video conferences with peers from around the world. They will use webcams to gain real-time understanding of geographical and social developments.
Our computing specialism will equip all our students with the skills and confidence they need to take full advantage of the exponentially developing opportunities in media technology in the 21st century.
